Imagining Better Workshop
Enriching People’s Lives and Potentials
Sunday, April 24 2016 9:00am to 3:00pm
Michael Kendrick has had the rare privilege of meeting families and working with them around the world and hearing from them about what matters.
He has a provocative and humorous way to instill in families the desire to imagine better.
The workshop is aimed at individuals and families from across Ontario who are engaged in conversations about what it takes to move from simply imagining to imagining better.
There has been quite extraordinary progress in the last several generations when it comes to the kinds of life opportunities that people with disabilities have been able to create and access. Much of this has come about by people intentionally building a positive and exciting vision for what could some day be true in a given person’s life. The willingness to explore what may be possible does not mean that those involved will not experience challenges, setbacks and moments of discouragement. Instead what it means is that many people have found the support and inner resources to keep an open mind and to stay hopeful . Not surprisingly this outlook has led to many advances, most of which were not thought possible at the outset of the journey. This commitment to “imagining better” will be explored with a view to highlighting the practicalities involved.
